This position is with the Department of Commerce, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL). In this position, you will be responsible for DOPL quality assurance reviews and will provide recommendations and support for quality improvement efforts. You will also develop and maintain cooperative relationships with state, local, and private agencies.PRINCIPAL DUTIESYour duties will include but not be limited to the following: Proposing, developing, and completing Division Quality Assurance Reviews to elevate Division accomplishment of its strategic plan through quality assurance.Analyzing work product of management and division staff to ensure compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and procedures. Analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, reviewing, and providing reports. Making recommendations to improve standard work procedures, management, training, policy, and procedures, etc. Developing and providing training to management, staff, and other stakeholders to further recommendations for quality performance.Providing executive-level support to management. Assisting Management Analyst in completing executive-level research. Using and facilitating the use of research data to sustain and improve existing Division duties. Assisting with the implementation of operational functions by monitoring projects for compliance with various statutes, rules, policies, and procedures. Acting as a resource to management by providing analysis, interpretation, summary, etc. of issues impacting the Division. Identifying problems and potential problems and recommending solutions. Assessing needs for, developing, and implementing policy and procedure changes. Assessing needs for, developing, and implementing training for staff.Self-managing a workload with a high degree of productivity and professionalism. Representing the Division with boards, associations, and other government agencies. Demonstrating leadership in accomplishing the Division’s mission. Interpreting, clarifying, explaining, and applying agency policy and procedures, business practices, statutes, and rules, etc. Preparing and/or processing documents; reviewing for accuracy and completeness; updating information and/or evaluating against policy; comparing elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc. Writing/Drafting correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written material. Performing other duties as assigned.THE IDEAL CANDIDATEOur model candidate will have: Functional Self-Management skills: Works with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively, maintains control over all current projects/responsibilities. Follows up on all relevant issues. Mental toughness: Reviewing others’ work processes can cause negative reactions; management may reject ideas, plans, proposals, etc. The ability to understand and write rules, policies, statutes, etc. The ability to speak professionally and give presentations to important groups like management, boards, legislators, etc. The ability to teach and train. A student mentality: Be able to accept training and education from all coworkers at DOPL. Computer proficiency. Excellent writing skills. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills. PREFERENCESWe may give preferences for applicants with the following: Project management experience (assessing, developing, and tracking). Possible PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar certification. Quality assurance experience, or experience auditing, analyzing, investigating, researching, reviewing, etc. Extensive experience providing training, customer service, and/or technical support. As a condition of employment with the Department of Commerce, employees shall receive compensatory time off in lieu of payment in cash for all overtime worked under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
